- Ok - well maybe it wern't exactly a Nor'easter - but it sure felt like one! - We had turrential rains and lots of wind! - the sky an sea - she was mighty furious! - Lots of folks actually flooded in our area from it. - We did too. Luckily the water stayed low in our basement, (although it did go clear from one side to thee other!) - and ye ol' sump-pump stopped momentarily till me first mate could clear out the pipes in the dry well, from all sorts of pollen, and seeds! - then she started up again, all purty like - Ayyye, what a sound! - Nothin' like the comfertin' sound o' yer sump-pump a-workin'!  Our neighbor wern't so fotunate as we ....with water up to their ankles ( yes, really!), they were a bailing in the wee hours o' the mornin' til the rain subsided enough that it wern't comin' back in by the bucket full!
 I hear tell that the docks were up to the top in water too - what a sight that must-a been! - harkens back to the last hurrican what tore through town, shutting everything down, and settin' boats up on the road! - The lights near the shoppin' center, did go out, and thar be those who be in charge, all over the place, tryin' te direct traffic ( yeah - that's a job I would want! :P) - Well, all's well today me Hearties, with the sun peekin' out from behind white fluffy clouds, and most of the tree limbs picked up.

- Ayye - It coulda been much worse!

 Well, I've never been an "evil step mother" -  I've always vowed to to my best at being a good one.
My Mother's Mother died when she was about 13, and she had a step mother that was so mean, so controlling, I cringe at the stories she has told me about growing up during those years. I swore I'd never be like that if I had children of my own, or was a step mother to children who were someone elses. God gave me a love for children as well, and I always wondered why, - until I met my own step son. I love him so dearly. I couldn't love him more, if he were my own. That might sound corney or fake to some, but I can readily assure you it is not.
 
 We always had a good relationship when he was little. Yes, there were some tough times when he was a teenager, ( pretty normal from what I hear), but our good relationship always remained a good one. I NEVER tried to take the place of his mother. I would never disrespect her, or him, like that. I stood by his father, ( my husband), when decisions reguarding him and his well being, and growing up were concerned. I didn't always agree with his father, and would voice my opinion if and when I didin't - thinking that maybe offering a different view would be helpful and supportive. His father would listen, and we would talk about what was going on, but I always respected the fact that it was his decision on how to dicipline or give advice, or handle whatever needed to be handled. He is my stepson's father after all, and I never wanted to disrespect that fact, or the fact that my step son has a mother. I always took great care to show her respect too. 

 That said - I loved him dearly, and still do - no matter what. - It is like, he was born in my hert. yeah, that sounds kinda hokey to some too, but I don't care - it's true. - It couldn't be truer. 
 For mother's day, I would recieve a card, or a picture or once, something he made in school - I cherished it - and in fact still have it along with all the other things he has given me over the years. I cherish them all! :)
 but -
he is older now, and will in fact be getting married this year. - and ever since several years ago, he, and his fiance' have always given me a card too - but it's very different - instead of seeing me at all, instead of calling me at all, I get a mother's day card that is oh-so-quietly, slipped into our mailbox at the end of our driveway. - if I'm lucky, I will get some sort of notice that it is there, ( I think I got a phone call once to let me know my card was in the box). - One year - I got a rose from them! - ( yes, I still have that too - and cherish it to this day as well).

 this year - as I ws getting some potted plants ready to take to my Mother-in-law's, I had a feeling, and thought I'd go and check our mail box - it was there - my first name on a bright pick envelope, and reading inside the cover - in handwriting; "we hope your Mother's Day was a relaxing enjoyable one!" -

 Iv'e heard it can heart your heart sometimes to be a mother, but I didn't think it would ever hurt this much to be a step mother.

 Was going to post a funny email I got - came with lots of cute pics - but - my comp will now only let me open one window at a time for some reason - so that means it won't work if I want to post more than one pic per post - Guess that shelves the Pirate Cruise for a while, til I can figure something out!  Well - the end of another weekend arrives, as quickly as it began - whew! how many of us have had that thought before?! - Can't wait for Summer to begin! - Not that I enjoy the swealtering heat, but I do enjoy having my kiddo home, and less running back and forth to the school. - School...now that's getting a bit tricky as time goes by - Our kiddo is being picked on - not that I'd be so nieve as to expect it not to, but it's getting worse and worse each year. Not sure what the future will bring - I guess we'll have to see how things are handled.
 Missing our realatives still - well it has only been since last Thursday that they left, headed back for home - but I don't miss the kitchen light not coming on cause the other switch was being used, and not knowing what "the plans" were from moment to moment. - I need to run some errands tomorrow - and need to catch up on some chores - need to prepare invites to a BBQ we're having for my step kiddo who will walk across the stage for a college degree, and then later this year will be married (!) - need to go pick out a dress, for that too! ( the wedding, not the graduation) ;)
 - Busy - but tring to pace myself  -   sure don't need another visit from my migraines! ARRRRRRRRRRG!

   After almost month, the last of our family left for home today. - No, not all of them stayed with us, but were with other realatives in town. I'll miss them alot, we all will. It is nice to get back to regular routines - but you do feel a bit differently for a while, like something's missing - and it is. My routine will be a bit different for a while - I'll be helping out an elderly member of our family, one who was being helped by those who left for home. I'll be running a few errands, as they can not at this time, due to a fall and a chipped bone in the knee. Doing much better now, but still "out of commision" for a while longer. -
 - - After the family members who had to make their way back home today, pulled out of the driveway - we also got in our car to make our way back home, - trouble is that where you turn out of the street, it's very tricky, and has a blind spot - so - I decided to go the other way - trouble is, the left turn I had to make once I did go the other way, has no green arrow - ( not sure who's bright idea that was) - and it was rush hour, so I knew I wasn't going to be making that turn! - went down further to turn near a gas station - needed gas anyways - it was rush hour - (think I said that already) - rush hour = no spaces at the pumps - tired from the day, I figured I still had a quarter, the station is close to home, so I'll fill up tomorrow, and made my way home.

.....the Rum Runner? - we spotted her just as we were turning the corner into our nieghborhood -  a sleek and shiny, red mohogany body ... with the words Rum Runner in golden letters - a beauty of a vessel!

 Well it started with Saturday morning (EARLY), waking up and knowing it was already there...a bed that was way too hard, and old, and a pillow that was ...well not the best in the world, and my neck suffered for it. We had spent the night at a relatives house, and I woke up with a migraine. - It was so early, and I hoped it would go away, but that doesn't happen once a migraine catches hold of you - not my migraines anyway! - BLAH - So I decided it best to pack up my things, explain I wasn't feeling well, and get home while I could still drive  - I was already feeling naucious - and who wants to throw up in someone else's sink?? I'd rather be sick in my own bed, my own home. -   It lasted allll day, and into the night. Fun fun fun! :P  And of course the next day I was totally wiped out! - So tired and dizzy from the entire day and night before. - I'm still tired and at least got a nap in today - but all the things going on here right now - realative visitin, going here, there, and yon - Whew  I'm getting tired again just thinking about it all.

 A little update on my Poison Ivy - IT'S FINALLY GONE! - ALL of it! -  YAYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!

 - shoulda known to be more careful, 'specially after I had caught sight of this fellow!

I just got some good news in an update from our goddaugter's Mom! Here's what she had to say -

 The "doctor had a third doctor look at her slides.  It was determined that they got all the cancer cells with the biopsy so there is no need for additional surgery at this time.  In June they will re-examine her to maintain if any other cells have developed.  She feels much better"    -     "There is no kemo just watching closely right now, the drs feel that hopefully there will be no more cancer cells forming but we will watch her closely.  We will always keep you posted." 

...When last we left off, me crew and I were all set te get on the course, and get ourrr game of golf started! - (thar also be a post inbetween that and this one, where sum picked out new golf carts) - that done - here we go! ...  ....We started off with Surrogate showing us all the proper form...( he be a pro at the game ye know!)...

It be a perfect day, and a perfect course, with a perrrfect view!

...As fer me?? - I still be dealin' with a bad case of poison ivy - ( two weeks now - as of tomorrow ) - the steroids the doctor prescribed didn't do anything but put me into a two day migraine - Blimey! - So I'm still doing the calamine thing - So have fun on the golf course while I be recoverin' - and I'll catch up with ye soon me hearties!!

 Well, so much for the steroids - they have the possible side effect of bringing on headaches, but for me, it brought on a full blown migraine! - compleate with spewing - it wasn't pretty - So after two whole days of dealing with a migraine that just wouldn't quit - I'm forgoing the steriods and going back to the good ol' calamine to get rid of this infernal poison ivy - hopefully it will do the trick, even if it does take longer than average to clear up. 
While looking for some migaine images, I found a few - this one cracked me up! It was titled, "Migraine Barbie and her meds"

...It got so bad, I called my doctor - he prescribed a steroid -

today's my first day taking them for a six day stint -

 - trouble is..it's bringing on migraines for me,
And I don't think I can take my immetrex with this stuff...

...does anyone know if rum counter-acts them??

Oh well, guess the up-side will is that I'll be able to steer me ship -  noooo problem!
