"Instant Rum"!
12.31.08 (4:05 pm)   [edit]

 Well, I went to the ol' grocery store this mornin' ( everyone else seemed to have the same idea too ), and got me sum low-fat and no-fat grub fer tonight's festivities. - We usually stay home and watch the ball drop and Mr. Dick Clark make his yearly appearence at the stroke of midnight -  Looks like the same is on tap this year too Mateys, as Captian Hook, ( me hubby), is sick this holiday, with what looks to be the flu bug - Oi!
Photobucket

 Anyway, as Captain Hook will be feasting on chicken noodle soup, yogert and tylonol, an' me and the kiddo will be feasting on fresh salsa, mango salsa, fat free veggie dip ( I'll have te' let ye know 'bout the taste of that one Mateys), and light fruit dip - along with veggies, (of course), fruit, (ditto), and some baked not fried tortilla chips. Also some low-fat cheese-its ( can't beleive I found those!), and some crab flavored crackers, ( no kidding!). YUM!
Photobucket

 On tap?? Sparkling cider! Ahhhhh! A fave - with a bite and some bubble to tickle ones nose!  Also got some plastic goblets with shiny sparkly gold stems, and some gold horns to blow, and some sparkly gold bead necklaces to wear - (already have ar par-tay hats) - oh! - and a festive gold and black New Years platter to display all the yummy fixin's on!
Photobucket

 So - I guess it won't be so bad with all the fixin's I actually was able to find! - Also have some Salmon I might cook up as well - Got's te' have me daily dose of fish food! Arrr! LOL!  Now I just needs te' find sum appropreite Pirate Par-tay, Ball dropping, ringin' in the New Year music, and we'll be all set!

  * Instant Rum???? - I saw that as I was wonderin' the isles lookin' fer sum grub - thought it was pretty funny, it gave me a chuckle, and I thought te' meself - self - that would make a perfect title fer me post today!

Under attack...
12.27.08 (6:58 pm)   [edit]

So let's try this again - shall we?... (posted the whole thing then got booted off earlier today so it didn't take) -

Photobucket
 Ok so - I be laying down waching "the tube" and I gets this pain in me back - so I gets out the 'ol heatin' pad, thinkin' that will help - WRONG! - it only got worser! MUCH WORSER! - and iNcReDibLe pain went through me gut and I couldn't git relief no matter if I layed down, sat up or even stood! It got so bad I called out to Captain Hook, he then called me Mum - still couldn't figure out what be goin' on with me, so we called "ask-a-nurse" and the doctor's office - both said go to the ER cause it could possibly be me appendix ...

Photobucket

 Got to the ER and the pain had subsided greatly - a doc saw me and I told 'im what had happened - (before when I tuched me tummy right below the ribs or on the right side, I was going through the roof in pain - but not now) - Doc says - Gall Bladder - I say - Me Mum said the same - ( how do they DO that?)  - anyway I gets sent fer a sonogram, no stones just "sludge" - so the doc sees me again later on and says, - sounds like ye may have passed a tiny stone through the duct - I say BLIMEY! *oUcH!*  - So 'afore he lets me go, the doc says I now has te keep on a low-fat diet .....Arrrrrrgh!  - Oh! - And no Christmas cookies or chocolate - Thanks doc! ..........Parlay???

 My First Christmas In Heaven

I've had my first Christmas in Heaven;
A glorious wonderful day!
I stood with saints of the ages,
Who found Christ, the Truth, and the Way.

I sang with the Heavenly choir;
Just think! I who longed so to sing!
And oh, what celestial music
We brought to our Saviour and King!

We sang the glad songs of redemption,
How Jesus to Bethlehem came,
And how they had called His name "Jesus",
That all might be saved through His name.

We sang once again with the angels,
The song that they sang that Blest Morn,
When shepherds first heard the glad story
That Jesus, the Saviour, was born.

Oh, how I wish you had been there;
No Christmas on earth could compare
With all the rapture and glory
We witnessed in Heaven so fair.

You know how I always loved Christmas;
It seemed such a wonderful day,
With all of my loved ones around me;
The children so happy and gay.

Yes, now I can see why I loved it,
And, oh, what a joy it will be,
When all of my loved ones are with me,
To share in the glories I see.

So dear ones on earth, here's my greeting;
Look up till the day dawn appears,
And, oh, what a Christmas awaits us,
Beyond all our partings and tears.

Update on Captain Nemo ...
12.07.08 (9:49 am)   [edit]

 Well it's been a difficult couple of weeks since Turkey Day - Captian Nemo was doing pretty well, (all things concidered), before and a little after Turkey Day - but the Saturday after Turkey Day, ( when our side of the family normally gets together), Captian Nemo fell - He was strong enough to use the walker to get to the bathroom just the day before, but then took a turn and became too weak to stand under his own strength. - The nurse was called and Captian Nemo was given a catheter and meds to keep him calm, so he wouldn't try to get out of the bed ( You know how you have that automatic urge to get up and go to the restroom - but he can't now, due to him being much weaker now) - He did ok the first week, even though he would get "aggitated" and want to get out of the bed - Captian Flint even bodily held him up one day, when he insisted on getting up out of the bed - Captain Flint explained he was holding Captain Nemo up, and that Captain Nemo did not have the strength to go anywhere, let alone stand on his own and under his own strength.

 The chemo Doctor did end up making a house call to do an assesment on Captain Nemo - From his observation of his symptems he said that the treatments had not helped - he said that Captain Nemo could have two weeks to two months left, but wasn't sure that he would make it past January - (of course no one can predict this to a definite time frame but that was his guess due to the symptoms he observed of Captain Nemo) - the chemo doc also said that he thought it best to cut back on some of the meds that Captain Nemo is taking - one that is for swelling of the brain, is also a medication that attacks the cancer/brain tumor, but is not winning the fight - he said that instead of prolonging the enevitable, that he though it best to cut back on that particular medication so he still gets some of it, and let things take their course instead of prolonging things

 - This past week, Captain Nemo, (still determined to get out of the bed - *remember his short term memory has gotten much worse, and is all but gone at this point) - was still rather irritated ( can't blame him of course - it is so very frustrating to not be able to get out of the bed nor to be able to do what you once were able to so well) and wanted to get up - medication is now every four hours - and was helping, although he was still able to be alert to eat and to talk and still recognizes everyone. - however, the meds were not strong enough and he would be hanging off the side of the bed cause of his effort to attempt to getup on his own - ( yes there are now rails on both sides of the bed as well, but when Captain Nemo is determined...well, let's just say the rails didn't stop him) - they were able to get him back into the bed when this happened except for yesterday - he fell compleately out of the bed, and Mom was saying he was complaining of pain in his back - so she called the nurse and they said to take him to the ER - The ambulance came - they X-rayed him and determined that nothing was broken or fractued - however, they decided to keep him over night ( actually it might be for a couple fo days), while they adjust the medications that will help to keep him calm and in the bed so that we can continue to care for him at home as he wanted. - I plan to join Mom today at the hospital to see how he is doing and when he might ( if at all) come home - we have had some precious moments with my Dad and truly treasure each and every moment, but of course it is difficult to see him this way - so weak and so frustrated

chchchchanges fer me crew...
12.02.08 (4:53 pm)   [edit]

 Well, big changes fer me crew as of late -

 We just took kiddo out of public school and will be homeschooling  - ok, I know it's not for everyone, but our school wasn't able to provide all that kiddo needed right now - so, it's a big change, but meself and Captian Hook think it be a good idea fer the kiddo at this time -

 and Captain Nemo is doing worse - ... since this past Saturday he has had to be confined to bed - he is not strong enough to get from the bed to the bathroom on his own power with his walker or with help - his bad days seem to be getting worse instead of better, even though he has good days inbetween those bad ones - Captian Nemo's chemo doctor is going to come to the house tomorrow to assess Captain Nemo's condition - I'll post an update

 thanks to all for your continued prayers - they mean alot and keep us all going
